Considering I have been going to Rachawadee for a couple of years now for my fried rice fix, I am surprised that I am just now getting to writing up this review. That being said, as a regular I have consistently enjoyed some of the most delicious authentic Thai food this region has to offer and that is saying a lot. Every item on their menu is a brand new adventure, a delicious journey where the faint of heart can simply drift away with each dishes signature and potent flavors, while thrill seekers can challenge Rachawadee's one to five star rating and more importantly still not take away from the flavor experience. At a two I was crying but it hurt so good. It would almost seem sacrilegious then to give Rachwadee a four and yet where the Sisters excel at delivering near culinary perfection, over the years they struggled with basic hospitality. The seating is what it is, the service is fast considering the popularity of this restaurant but the attitude from the Sisters sits between hurried and hostile almost to the point of making you feel apologetic for ordering anything. Aside from that I will continue to dine here and have no problem recommending Rachwadee. As a suggestion especially now with the influx in popularity maybe plan to order out (hence my regular consumption of their fried rice) as the space is cramped with I believe to be only 9 seats and if you are in the mood for an out of body experience spring for their Spring Rolls , I could write a book on how epic these Spring rolls truly are.

Came up this way to go to tulip town... after an hour drive we got hungry. Yelped food in the area and this Thai place had great reviews. If you are driving by you just might miss it. Hole in the wall place, counter seating and very small. Food is made fresh right in front of you. The food is delicious. One of the best Thai food restaurants I have been to. We ordered the tofu summer rolls and tofu pad Thai. Seasoning was just right. We watched them make the food; we were mesmerized. If you are in the area I highly recommend you stop in.

Great food. Limited seating. But well worth the wait. The food comes out hot and steaming with burst of flavors. Everything on the menu is good. Best Thai food I had outside of Portland.

Thank goodness I read the review about the HOTNESS!! Altho they did have it 'posted' that it was hot 'today'. I usually order 4*'s...but 2 was plenty hot! You sit on bar stools & watch the food being prepared. I like to ask 'what do you think is the best dish you make'. Unfortunately waiters seem unable to say what it is. I was pointed to a dish and told 'lots of people like this'...oh well, sometimes you don't get lemonade! Had a great conversation with the owner about 'hot peppers', where he gets them, hotness, storage etc. As a cook that uses lots of peppers & likes hot food it was very interesting to me. As usual, I another 2 meals from their serving. I will go back & hopefully the owner will be here when I order & I will get 'the best dish they make'. My only complaint was my dish was very heavy on tough, inedible chunks of cabbage. Still....it's a 5!

WOW! This place exceeds any expectations I could possibly have for Thai food. Beware, as seating is limited, though I assure you it is worth the wait. The ladies that serve you are quick, efficient, and always polite, even during rush hours. They have an expansive menu, though no larger than most other thai restaurants. The best part is watching your food sautéed right in front of you! The atmosphere is very intimate as the only seating is at the bar. The food is absolutely outstanding and consistent. For those of you who can't handle spicy food, be careful with their menu. I thought I was pretty brave with spice and their 2 stars had me sweating!

  • Brad L.

Awesome, just awesome. This is just like Thailand when I was there. Even the place is like Thailand, cooking right in front of you and all. The only difference is this place has 4 walls, not all places is Thailand have that! Keep it up Mile and crew!!

I'm so glad to find this little hole-in-the-wall place during my stay in Mt Vernon. The restaurant is small with mostly bar seating, though it's a pretty fun experience sitting there and watching them cooking. We ordered Pad Thai, red curry chicken, and tom yum soup. Curry and soup came out great. But my favorite was the pad thai, it was outstanding, authentic, and definitely the best I've had so far (who knows how many hundreds of different pad thai I tried). The waiter was really friendly, helping us decide the spice level that's appropriate to us as we're new to the restaurant, and his recommendation made this dish perfect to my taste. If I ever go back to the area again I'll go back there for sure!

It is consistently excellent every time. After years of coming here and trying just about everything on the menu I have never had a bad dish. The veggies are fresh, meats are fresh, portions are generous and the flavors are spot on what I get when I'm in Thailand. Your food is fresh off the wok into your bowl and the service is quick and friendly.

Gotta try it. Teeny place with 9 bar stools, and if you arrive during the heat of dinner\lunch expect to wait or order to go. Highlights: okay, take your last best Thai experience... Now multiple that by at least 3... -watching your own plate be prepared is super wonderful and satisfying when set in front of you. -super spicy peppers here. I once watched a man order a '10' star because 'other places can't bring the heat' and he cried. No joke..be aware. -May get hooked on one dish until you try another-now that one is your favorite. Ultimate Thai cravings stem from the spicy green beans, and pad kee mao, also the 3 muskateer friend rice is the ultimate. The red rice they serve here is fantastic... (It's true... Whenever I want Thai food.. This is the flavor standard my taste buds are looking for.) Good luck on seating and enjoy!

Amazing food that seems to be very authentic. Not a great place for a family to go out to dinner and sit down because it is so tiny. The delicious food makes up for any shortcomings in any other area though.

Literally the best Thai food I've ever had. After having tried out Rachawadee other Thai food places just don't compare anymore. For a really small restaurant the food is very fresh, the atmosphere is clean, and service is friendly. I've never been much of a pad thai fan but ever since I tried it here I come back for it every time. Some places make theirs too sweet and some too sour but this place hits the nail right on the head with their flavors. Careful when ordering the spiciness tho, they use true Thai levels of heat. I'm a person that usually orders a 4/5 stars at other places find two stars here pretty spicy. This place is a must go and you must have their pad thai and kee-mow.

THE BEST Thai restaurant in the PNW!!! I'm not exaggerating at all.... Peanut sauce is so delish too!!!

    (5)
  • Marissa G.

My favorite Thai restaurant ever! It's a tiny restaurant with only about 8 seats but you can always take it to go. And I am serious when I say this is the best Thai food!! Be aware...their spice levels are extreme. I get 0 stars and it's still a little spicy. 1 star if you like it very spicy. Continue with more stars at your own risk.

  • Amy Z.

Ruined, I am completely ruined after coming here. I've been to thai house MV, every Thai restaurant in Bellingham, and countless others from Vancouver BC to Portland OR and this is the best Thai Restaurant bar none. I came before what I though would be the lunch rush considering they only have 9 seats (11:45) but it was plenty packed. I stuck with my thai food staple of pad Thai and had high expectations after consulting numerous friends and just reading the reviews. Holy deliciousness, PERFECT balance of sweet, salty, sour, and salty. Thin rice noodles with the perfect amount of bean sprouts and tender chicken. OMG, just try it, you'll never be able to eat Pad Thai anywhere else again....and yes, true Thai spice levels, I can handle heat but 3 stars was pushing it, very spicy!

  • Gladys M.

Horrible service by the manager. Came here with friends as it was recommended. Manager treated our group with such disrespect. She had no patience to take our order and was rushing us to leave a few minutes after we received our meal! I understand there is very limited seating, shouldn't blame the customers if manager isn't going to do anything about the situation.

  • Keni M.

The best. Ever. Serious. Pad Thai is out of the world good. The veggies are perfect. Peanut sauce perfect. Kee mau perfect with awesome veggies. They shred the som tum right in front of you. These are some hard working ladies. I like a mix of 2 and 3 stars, but I LOOOVE the burn. Be careful! You'll never be able to go back to run of the mill pan asian sorta Thai sadness everywhere else.

  • Eric H.

Plan either an early or late arrival if you are trying to do lunch as it seems their well-deserved popularity makes a seat at lunch hour a challenge. My favorite dish is the Pad See Ew with chicken. I generally do 2 stars of spice here while at any other restaurant, I do 4 on a 5-star scale. Friendly folks and wonderful food from the freshest of ingredients. I hope they stay just they way they are as truly, a meal here is something to look forward to. I am afraid that a change of venue might jeopardized the winning formula that Pam and Poo have accomplished though at the same time wish that I could more frequently get a seat at the regular lunch hour. You can't have everything.

  • Chris D.

This place is great! It is authentic Thai street food, they don't have all the same fancy stuff a larger restaurant might have, but all the food the do make is top notch. This last weekend they made a 12 person dinner for me to serve at my house and it was awesome! They were super helpful and the food and the dinner turned out great. Love this place, can't recommend it enough if your looking for Thai food.

I've tried to eat here twice. It's right next to my fav pub so I always see people going in and out with their to go orders. Made me curious. My advice.... get take out and do it EARLY. They say they close at 8 but if you get there after 7:30 they will yell at you that they are closed. I say... "Uuuuummm, it's only 7:30 and all I want is an order to go." She yells, "No to go. We closing!" as I stare at the 8 or so people sitting up at the tiny bar eating their noodles. YIKES. I feel like I'm in a Seinfeld episode dealing with the Soup Nazi. She's just grouchy today I think to myself. Then I hear her on another night yelling at customers as I sit in the open bar next door. "We closing!!". I look at the clock. 7:45. I mean... they must know their food is good because their service is horrendous and they stay busy. I just can't bring myself to go back and take that attitude just for a good plate of Pad Thai. I don't want it THAT bad.

  • Jordan R.

One of the best, most consistent restaurants I have ever been to. Really flavorful sauces and broths, reasonable spiciness scale. You can tell they really put in a lot of effort to do things properly (consistent cut vegetables and meats, with noticeably solid cooking technique) Sometimes hard to get in as there are less than 15 seats, but you can always get something to go. Love it every time I go.

    (5)
  • Jacob M.

The best Thai Food I have ever had period! Watch the spice lvl because they are on point with traditional Thai spices. Cut your spice level in half unless you want to experience the ring of fire!

  • David A.

The best Thai food I've ever had! If you're coming through Mt Vernon, you HAVE to try this place. Watch out though, it is VERY SPICY! This little hole in the wall won me over on my first of many visits. I've had Phad Thai, Kee Mao, See Ew and Red Curry. They were all bursting with flavor and expertly cooked. My family loves this place so much that we had them cater my brothers rehearsal dinner for his wedding, cooking for ~30 people. They nailed it again. Thanks Rachawadee!

  • Kevin W.

The best Thai food around. I find it difficult to eat Thai elsewhere given this place is authentic as it gets in terms on Thai restaurants. It seems to be run by a family who takes pride in their work. They are always friendly. The food is always delicious. I am grateful we finally have a 5-star eatery in the town I grew up in. I can't say the same about many/any other eateries in Mount Vernon.

  • Glenn B.

One of the best Thai places I have been to in the Northwest. Warning, when they say spicy the mean business!

    (5)
  • Michelle S.

This by far the best Thai food around!! Authentic food. They use fresh ingredients. This is a small Place with a few bar stools and you can watch them prepare and cook your food. A 1 star here is like a 4-5 star everywhere else. They also have ice cream which is super good.

    (5)
  • Judy P.

Is this place closed for good? Called a few times to place an order. No answer. Drove by & sign says not opening til noon. Not open at 12:15. Want more phad thai from here someday

  • Andrew L.

Best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand. Great curry awesome flavor and the spice is actually accurate never before did I think 5 star was 5 star. Can't recommend this place enough

    (5)
  • erin p.

If I could give this place more then five stars I would! It's mind blowing thai food and I can guarantee you won't find anything like this place nearby! I have tried several dishes and each one was delectable. I am not even embarrassed to say I have driven from ferndale WA to eat here. The restaurant is pretty small but if there is space at the bar you should stay for the show. These women are incredibly fast and fun to watch. The absolute best!

  • B H.

This is REAL thai street food. Don't be dissuaded by the exterior, walk in, sit down, and prepare to taste the flavors and nuances of real thai cuisine. Tip: when they say it is spicy, it is Thai spicy, so beware I sincerely wish they had later hours and were open on the weekend, as my husband and I would be there all the time.

  • Joe M.

Amazing little hole in the wall!! Pad Thai was the best I have ever had. I took my 2 year old daughter into this place and the staff were so friendly. As soon as we sat down we had an amazing soup to eat and when I ordered our food it was ready 3 minutes later, cooked in front of us as if we were ordering street food in Thai land. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for an authentic Thai experience

  • Rachael J.

Having been to Thailand, this by FAR is the BEST Thai food we have had anywhere in the states. These sisters are amazing cooks, waiting for one of the not many bar stools is well worth it! The food is delicious! And sitting at the bar, watching your food be prepared, smelling the fresh EVERYTHING, ummmm so good! This is a must go, when wanting Thai food, or in Mount Vernon.

  • Ashish A.

Hands down the best Thai food I have eaten so far . The pad Thai is to die for and the satay tastes very good . It's a authentic Thai place with a feel at home restaurant . Very happy with the food. It's not a fancy dine place it has at the most like 10 seats to sit!! Must visit place!!

Fast and good. Not a single bad dish ever.

    (5)
  • Trail Maven S.

Super tasty Thai food here! Just be careful if you like spicy.... I love spicy, but have to scale down my stars here. Very spicy if you say 5 stars! The drawback is there is very limited seating. Not handicap accessible or kid friendly if either of those apply to you.

  • Jon D.

I can see there is raving reviews for this place, but I was anything but impressed. I'm thinking this place may have been a gem back in the day and they could have brought some great home-made style Thai cuisine to a town very lacking in any good restaurants, especially ethnic cuisine. However, now this place is very crowded and popular and banking on the lack of choices in the area. The staff was quite unfriendly and when the woman wanted to take my order, she asked me what I wanted and then when I proceeded to ask a question she just turns away from me and goes back to doing other things. It was very rude and I told her I refused to order anything if she won't look at me. The staff looked horribly overworked and these people obviously are banking on using the least staff and smallest space possible. The seats were very uncomfortable and dine-in experience is not fun at all. Now, the food.. I have eaten at many Thai restaurants in Seattle and Portland and I will say the Thai food is just mediocre in quality. The sauce for the Panang curry was a bit too thin for my taste , showing they rushed through it and didn't spend enough time to use appropriate thickeners which is common in most Thai sauces for this type of curry. The thai chilis and spices were decent, but were a bit lacking. It really felt they just rushed through it and whipped it up as quick as possible. I guess they figure most Mt Vernon people will not know the difference anyway. I've easily had much better Thai food , but it's not the worst. The portions of rice with the curry are utterly pathetic. Is there a rice shortage in Thailand? Why on earth do they give you this tiny portion of rice , whereas other Thai places will give you a much larger portion for the prices they charge. I was not impressed and feel that this place may have potentially been a great place back in the day, but now they have too much business and seem to just be trying to make as much profit as possible and sacrificing the quality. They should upgrade the size of their location and staff, but rather save money since they are still generating so much business. I feel sooner or later this place will lose business if any other decent Thai option will come to Mt Vernon or Burlington. The other Thai restaurant is very overpriced and bland, so for now, this place can get by with this mediocre Thai food and awful service.

  • George C.

Wow, if you have made it this far then your search is over...this place is amazing, I will go back again, and again. You feel as though you are not even in Mount Vernon as soon as you walk through the door, and the show the wok chef puts on is very cool. Oh, the food, ya well like I said I will go back again, and again, then when I have had everything on the Menu, I will just start over. So what are you waiting for? GO NOW HURRY......

    (5)
  • Brandon C.

Went Friday night closed at 6 PM when they were suppose to be open till 8. Went again at 2 PM Saturday to get my Thai fix..... Closed. Ended up getting Thai at Thai house this place is so inconsistent you get one star now.

So I counted, and to clear up any confusion, there are NINE seats. And they do fill up quickly after opening at 11:00 a.m. My wife and I were the first ones there, and the seats were almost filled when we left. Watching the food prep is a treat. Never before have I seen mushrooms being peeled, but I got to see it here. Yes, they do use very fresh ingredients. And you get a chance to talk with the owners. We had the lunch combos. They came with a soup my wife called "hot and slimy soup." It looked about the consistency of raw egg whites, and slid down about the same. It did taste okay. This was not the high point of our meal. The main course was very good. It was one of the spiciest dishes I've ever eaten (at two stars!), but very good. Perhaps they could have included a little more chicken, but the complaint I read earlier about portion sizes was not something with which I can agree. The Thai ice tea was also very good. I will eat here again, though I will ask for gentle treatment on the spice. Probably the best Thai food in Mount Vernon, served up quick and hot.

    (4)
  • Kaela C.

YES. This is heaven in a narrow and slightly cramped interior. Eat then judge. If they need that space to keep operating costs low let them. Worth it in every way. And free soup weekdays and non-holidays.

  • Adam G.

This is probably the single best restaurant north of Seattle. Period. It doesn't look like much when you enter - only a bar with about 10-12 seats. But the food is fresh, spicy, and incredibly flavorful! This is the only Thai restaurant where I can't casually say 5 stars for spiciness. It is a real 5 stars. Yet the heat does not take away from the Flavors one bit. I love the fresh rolls and Phad kee Mao best, however I have truly enjoyed every dish I have eaten here. I make excuses to go to Mt. Vernon just to eat here! As an aside, dinner here followed by a beer after at the Porterhouse next door, and you have a pretty solid evening!!

  • Jess H.

SO GOOD! The best in the Valley when it comes to Thai. Great portions for a good price. I tried another Thai place nearby and the portions were tiny compared to what you get here, and they were more expensive. My go to for Thai is Phad Thai, I usually get a 5 star when it comes to spiciness, here, that 5 star was WAY to spicy. l get there 4 star now and sometimes I regret that. So just to let you know, they are serious about their spice here!

    (5)
  • Julie B.

I can't believe I have lived in the valley for years and this is my first visit. This is the best Thai food you will find north of Seattle. Only 9 seats and you feel like you are in the kitchen with them as they are cooking and prepping right in front of you. We ordered the phad see ew with summer rolls and larb gai, they were absolutely delicious and very fresh ingredients (no nasty bagged broccoli )We ordered a two star and it was very spicy compared to most Thai restaurants we go to...so order down on your stars. The three women working were so sweet to us. I've taken a couple of Thai cooking classes and loved watching them prep and cook! Enjoy!!!

best Thai food ever! I'm addicted:)

  • Jon R.

This is probably one of the best, if not the best Thai restaurant around Mount Vernon WA. It's literally a "blink and you'll miss it" down a side street so keep your eyes peeled. To be fair I've mainly had the curry here. It's very good though. Also try the Thai Iced Coffee! Word of warning: their spicy peppers are stronger than most places and should be considered two levels above most other places (if you get a 2-star spiciness here, it's like a 4-star anywhere else). People who love spicy food will feel at home here (I certainly do!)

    (5)
  • Brian B.

If I crave Thai I don't go anywhere else because there's no need. They may only have 8 seats and there may be a slight wait but you are in for some of the best Thai around.

  • Aliciana D.

Best thai place i have ever been to and ive been to LOTS of thai food establishments. so authentic, quick, and fresh. exquisite taste and fun place to dine at. only thing that does bum me out is that they upped the price of some dishes, im thinking in particular about the beef pad thai dish. but totally worth the price

    (5)
  • Jim C.

Love this place! Fun to watch them cook. Watch out, 3 stars here is 5 stars anywhere else! Great food and service.

  • Silas D.

This is the best Thai food in the valley no doubt, I recommend it for any first time Thai food experience.

    (5)
  • Lisa S.

So yummy. Had the Pad See Ew and the 4 Musketeers Fried Rice and coconut prawns. Everything was cooked perfectly. We also had Phad Kee Mao and it was missing some basil, so the flavor was a little lacking for this dish. I will not get Thai food anywhere else in the valley. If you are a wimp about spicy, then don't order any stars. Spicy and delicious. The Thai iced tea is the best I've ever had. Friendly staff. Perfect little hole in the wall atmosphere.

What a little gem of a Thai place, where I never would have expected to find one. This place probably seats 16 people including the folding table that we sat at. It opened promptly at 12:00 noon and there was a full people set of for all 16 seats. The menu is simple, but complete. I had the Matsumann curry and my wife the Pad Thai with Tofu. the Matsumann was wonderful, large portion, spiced just perfect with a few surprise vegies and fruits. I has two meals from the protion. The Pad Thai was also plenty full although short of Tofu. The spring rolls were perfect. Service was great and these ladies and one young gent were busting it to get all served in a timely manor, I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is on their way North and needs a repaise for lunch. Priced very fairly and really great food.

  • Steph G.

I was tempted to give this restaurant a bad review just to keep people from coming here because it's tiny (only 10 seats) and I would hate to have to wait for some of the best Thai food I've ever eaten. My conscience won't allow it though. This restaurant is awesome - from the diner-style seating which allows you watch your food being freshly prepared to the wonderful women who run the place. So far we have enjoyed the spring rolls, green papaya salad, noodle soup, pad see euw, and bamee noodles. The flavors are bright and complex and they get the noodles alittle caramelized - just how I like 'em. Word of caution though - they do not cater to American palates in terms of spiciness like most of our local Thai restaurants. Even their mild dishes are slightly spicy, but in a good way.

i go out of my way to go to mount vernon nowadays! the women who work here are exceptionally nice, the food is fabulous (if you're looking for hot, they are not reluctant to make your 4 star meal a true 4 star meal!) the portions are generous and it's quite reasonably priced. good luck getting a seat. this place is small and fills up fast at lunchtime but it's worth the wait!

  • Casey B.

This place was great! Was visiting the area for work and stopped in for lunch. Ordered the cashew nut stir-fry and we liked it so much, we went back for lunch again the next day. Tiny place (only seats around 10 at a bar), but great service and food. Definitely worth stopping in.

  • Julie H.

Fantastic food served out of a small lunch counter! Order take out for the best Thai you've ever had. My favorite is Green Curry Chicken with Brown Rice. Fantastic. My kids love the Pad Thai as well. They give you so much you'll have lunch for a couple of more days. Definitely recommend!

Best Thai food in the Puget Sound area hands-down! My home away from home in Skagit Valley. A favorite haunt of the local downtowners as revealed by the folks hovering at lunch waiting for take out or a seat. Every dish is unique and flavorful. Try the Noodle Boat or Gau Teaw Num (my favs) for home style dishes you will only get here or in Thailand. Absolutely fabulous! The service is amazing and friendly and when I eat here I feel like I'm in my grandmothers kitchen it is soooo friendly.

This place is TINY...but amazing. The 3 girls running it are efficient and friendly. My daughter and I went there for dinner Friday night and the 9 or so seats at the bar seating were full. One of the girls efficiently pulled out a narrow folding table and two tiny folding chairs to sit on in the narrow walk way. It was a little unusual but we were so happy to be able to get in we didn't care. The food was so fresh and flavorful. Beware...very spicy. My daughter ordered 0 stars on her phad thai and I mocked her when I ordered 1 star on mine. 0 would have been just right.....will definitely go back. Would love to sit at the bar and watch them cook. Don't be discouraged if it is crowded. By the time we left the bar the seats were empty and the next rush was coming in.

The Bomb. I live in Asia 3-4 months a year, and have since 2009. Asian food I know...and love. This place is my favorite in WA. Super fresh, full of spice, cooked to perfection, great atmosphere, and friendly people. It's like going to Thailand, and being invited to someone's house who really knows how to cook the old fashioned way. Plig Khing, 4 Musketeers friend rice, Phad kee Mao, all great. So is everything else.. That said...don't go here. It's already crowded enough. Leave the place to those of us who adore it.

  • Jackelin T.

Love this Thai cafe. I've been here a few times and they are pretty consistent. This small business serves up delicious Thai food with awesome customer service. I'll make sure to order ahead of time cuz that way they'll put in my to-go order ahead of seated customers. That's what the owner told me at least. I had the Phad See Ew with the right amount of spices and sweetness. The broccoli was cooked just the way I like it, crunchy but tender.

It quite simply shames any other Thai Restaurant in the Valley - well priced and good sized portions - this little restaurant has it sorted out and strives to please it's customers - the Panang Curry is ver very James Bond :-)

A hole in the wall place with great food. The staff is very warm. Highly recommend this for a no non-sense easy meal. They only have 10 stools so would be lucky if you get to sit when it's busy!

Unbelievably good! I have not ever been more impressed with a Thai kitchen. They don't make concessions for us Honkeys, which I deeply appreciate. "#4 heat" will separate your head from the rest of your body... as it should. The variety of tastes in the dishes is incredible. For example, the Tom Yum soup is phenomenal; easily the most complex tasting, simple broth that I have tasted. The ambiance is great. No booths for you to seethe in seclusion. You have only the choice to belly up to the bar, or leave. It is very comfortable. You have all of the ingredients in view as well as the care and cleanliness of the cafe. You will talk to your companion as well as to the server and to the owner; and to the cook; and the person next to you as well as the person three or four spaces from you. What will you talk about? THE FOOD!! It really is that good! The place is a shrine. To the owners, count your blessings. Don't expand or buy into some hotel's offer to take over their restaurant sink-hole. If you must expand....build more 10 foot X 40 foot cafe bars. Your place simply rocks! Thank you.

The food is outstanding. The service while prompt is lacking. The women working there did not acknowledge us right away even though we could practically reach right out and touch them. When I told one woman we were ready to order she shook her head yes and proceeded to help the people next to us who were not actually ready to order and wound up leaving the restaurant. Two of the women that were working also seemed very annoyed by the third as they were sneering at her and talking between themselves shaking their heads in dismay. Very uncomfortable atmosphere.

Best Thai food in Skagit! Fresh seafood, cook the best scallops. Good flavorful spice.

Great little place with friendly staff! We arrived at 3:00 pm expecting it to be empty, but there were only two seats available, and there was a steady stream of customers the whole time we were there. I had the eggplant with tofu, and it was perfect since I'd read the other Yelp reviews. My "mild" (or level one) dish made me sweat quite a bit. My fiancé enjoyed Panang Curry and a Thai tea. We'll definitely come back the next time we're in the area.

Pull up a seat and watch excellence happen. At Rachawadee, you sit at the bar and watch the owners grab fresh ingredients and whip up your favorites, all within about 15 feet. Normally I'm not a fan of places with only bar-stool seating but the service is so quick, you won't have time to get uncomfortable. Two of us shared the Summer Rolls to start which were great with the prawns. We had Phad See Ew and Yellow Curry. Both dishes were cooked perfectly with great flavor. WARNING: I LOVE SPICY food and ordered a 3/4 on their spicy-scale. A 4/4 would have been too much for me. Keep it to a 3 or less unless you have the crazy taste buds. Between the affordable prices and the speed/quality here, I would highly recommend Rachawadee. Right now, patrons are benefiting from what has clearly been many years of honed cooking skills. Go be one of them!

Amazing thai food. I think I will stick with 1 star for spice level. Watching my food being cooked in the wok right in front of me was great.

  • Nichole L.

Fantastic and fresh every time! Beware though - they are SPICY, and one star is plenty for me (where at most other places I'd do 2-3). Great little hidden gem in Mount Vernon!

  • Priya B.

Awesome food! Do not go by the outside look of the restaurant - it looks small, but the food inside is amazing! and the restaurant is very well kept. It is a different style of restaurant - they cook right in front of you and serve. This is the best Thai food I have tasted so far!!

This place is my favorite Thai place! I used to come here when Suporn the old owner opened it. When she sold to the current owners I was still just as impressed with their cooking. This place is just what I like, great food at a good price with no frills. If you want catered service and fancy decorative props go somewhere else. This is a cafe, and a such it's just a few seats and a kitchen. My favorite dishes are the Kee Mao with chicken and the Tom Kha soup with chicken. My only complaint is a small one, their 2 stars is more like a 3 or 4. So if you are spice shy order NO STARS!

  • J L.

I have been coming here for years! Decided its time to let the people know: always good, fast & affordable. Everything is cooked on a wok and the set up is similar to Thai Tom in the U-district. Worth a quick 3 minute drive off of I-5. It gets crowded! My mom goes there 3-4x a week so please buy her a Thai tea.

Today, my birthday, I was treated to an unusually good dining experience in the most unexpected of places. Old Town Mt Vernon is quaint and even rustic but it has some quality dining establishments to be proud of. Today, however we went off of the beaten path to a side-road, a near alleyway, to sample the food of a well rated Thai Cafe. What a surprise! It was a complete joy to eat here. Side by side with strangers that were equally amazed at the visual entertainment of the Chefs and the very pleasant attitude of the owner, host. In a total of no more than 800 sq ft, this gem of a "hole in the wall" has only 12 round, soft, non-backed, soda fountain stools at the counter. The food can not be fresher. The meal prep no more engaging to the eyes. The final product no more tasty. This was a birthday gift that was unexpected! I am fearful of this place getting too popular and then too successful to stay in its britches and then we will lose the charm of my new favorite place to eat. Plan to share the joy of more than an excellent meal. This is Small Town America at its finest. The melting pot of all that is good...shoulder to shoulder with strangers, quietly affirming the spirit of unity and brotherhood. Wow that was healthy to the soul!! Thanks RTC.

Modest place but service is good and food is best Thai in the Seattle area, by far. Recommend the red curry. Very spicy even if you ask for medium; take care!

    (5)
  • Savannah R.

Delicious! The best pad thai, the best stir fry veggies with meats, good curries, sweet staff, quick service. Not good for groups just FYI. They only seat about 8-10 ppl at a time since it is a mini restaurant. No room for kids or groups.

  • Amelia S.

The best thai food I have every had in my life. And the only place I've ever eaten that isn't afraid of spice. The 4 star will have your mouth burning, and your body sweating... it's amazing. Everyone is great there. The food is perfect. The Thai iced tea delicious. The tofu pad thai is full of tofu and veggies, just typing about it makes my mouth water. But be sure to get there not during lunch or dinner hours, with only 6-9ish seats, they get taken up FAST. Waiting around for a seat, or take out, is definitely worth it.

  • Tara D.

Fun little hole-in-the wall with just nine seats. Nice to watch your fresh vegis being chopped and a great wok-side view. I don't like Phad Thai at other Thai restaurants usually, but I like hers ( which comes with all the lunch specials plus soup and rice). Beware of their spice level - they are hotter than average. Always recommend.

  • Geordie R.

So excited to have found this little gem on Yelp. This restaurant is everything that is great about the term "hole in the wall." There might be seating for 6-7 along the counter, but no tables and the restroom is in the back. I would guess these guys get a bigger restaurant in a year or two, but now is the time to take advantage of this great set up. The food was fantastic and our party had all of our favorites - Pad Kee Mao, Swimming Rama, Pineapple Curry. We found the food to be really spicy. I like spice, but found the stars a little off. We had 2 stars and it seemed more like a 4 star out of 5. You might go easy on the heat on your first visit.

  • Kaya N.

Excellent Thai food. When they ask how spicy on a scale of 1-4 say 1/2 because level 1 kicked my butt. I had to order a Thai iced tea to soothe the burn.

  • Rob S.

This is an absolute hidden gem of a restaurant. It ranks up there with my favorite Thai food. I just love the wonton soup, but everything is good because it's made fresh right in front you. It's quick too, so if you're traveling on I-5 this makes for a perfect pit stop.

  • Jordan G.

Tiny little restaurant off the beaten path, but great food. My wife and I eat Thai food everywhere we go, big cities, little towns, and in Thailand when we're visiting. And we'd highly recommend Rachawadee. Its as close to authentic as you can get in the US- the food isn't too sweet and they have the prerequisite family shrine and photos of the royal family to help seal the deal. This place is basically a diner/gallery kitchen with 10 to 12 stools (no tables or booths) and the kitchen wide open to you. Average dish was around $10.00- the portions were average (not huge) but the flavors were delicious! They treat their woks like they should- rinse and limited scrubbing during the day so the flavor of the char on the chicken and dishes builds up nicely. It was served quickly, served hot, and served by the chef. Great vegetables, great seasoning, great noodles/rice. The only Washington state Thai restaurant I've had that I could say is better is Bai Tong in Tukwila (not the Bellevue site). Great value, great food. If you're in the area or traveling to Canada from Seattle, stop here!

  • Mike H.

As others have said here: This just isn't the best Thai place in the area, but some of the best Thai food ANYWHERE. Whoever said portions were small must have hit it on the wrong day and they were running low on some key ingrediant. My experience is just the opposite. Excellt taste. Descent prices. But it's how fresh everything is that seems to set this place apart in my mind from all the other Thai places I've been to. Veggies are crisp and not slimey or overcooked and generous portions of meat in each dish. My only word of caution: 3 stars here is like ordering 4 or 5 anywhere else. When ordering, be cautios and add more from the condiment tray if needed. My only dig on the place could be that it's a small, luch counter setup. But then again, that's one of the charms of the place, too. It's a family opperation and if it's crowded, they do a quick turn around on takeout orders. Skip all the others. This is the Thai place to go to if you can!

    (5)
  • Clark S.

Seattle or Vancouver wish they had a place this unique or good. Careful with the heat scale. If you normally order 5, do a 3. Really! Tiny place with a handful of stools, no tables. And watch your food prepped and cooked. Take out is amazing. Great staff!

  • Mikey S.

Best Phad Thai in all the lands!

  • William B.

This is one of the best thai places I've been to. I used to eat thai all the time in the SF Bay Area and can't think of many places there that live up to this place. I am usually a curry eater, but I often get the pad thai here. It's a bit spicier and less sweet than usual, and I feel like I'm eating a meal instead of a dessert. But the coconut curries are great, too. You get a lot of food for your money here. A word about the spice; their "mild" is hotter than what a lot of thai restaurants call hot, even on something like pad thai. So just expect that if you order your normal level of spiciness, that you're in for a surprise (or a treat, depending on how you look at it). I don't think the food is particularly overpriced. It's excellent quality and made to order.

  • Brett P.

I'm surprised this place doesn't have lines running out the door. I *love* the diner atmosphere, and being able to watch the chefs preparing your food. All the staff are very friendly and inviting. The food is top-notch, and portions are reasonable. I'm a huge thai food fan, and having this gem of a restaurant nearby is truly a blessing. However, compared to other offerings in the area, the food is overpriced. I can't afford to eat there as often as I'd like, so it's a special treat to visit.

The best Thai food I have ever eaten. I have gone to more Thai restaurants than I can count and I very picky about the quality of food I eat. It is hard to choose a favorite dish, I have been getting pad see eew (sp?) with beef lately. The fresh rolls are great too. Watching them prepare your food is a great bonus for me, you can see the kitchen is clean and the fo Eat here if you want a new favorite restaurant!

  • Kim G.

Excellent Thai food. Tom Yum Noodle soup, pad thai, garlic noodles.--all highly recommended. The flavors are rich, ingredients are fresh, and the cooks really put their heart into cooking. It is unfortunate the restaurant seats only 9. Each time that I've been, all 9 seats are taken. They offer take out as well. Almost too good to be true. A true gem in Skagit County.

Rachawadee is the best Thai food in the valley without a doubt. Consistently delicious! I prefer them for take out since there is such limited seating, and they are always packed. I'm so glad they are a part of our great downtown! Oh, I should also mention they are spicy, fair warning.

    (5)
  • Medrese M.

Delicious! Stopped by to pick up lunch (had the Larb Ga). The food was excellent, my only complaint was the price. There's no lunch menu, so the price was a little steep. That aside, I loved the food and it was prepared quickly. I will definitely return.

My favorite place to eat in Mt. Burlington !!! :) I have never had a bad meal, and i have had too many to count! Every time we come we order enough for 5 ppl just so that we have leftovers. Even when they are slammed the food is perfect and served with smiles. I just Can't say enough good things about Rachawadee!

Stopped here during an out of town trip. Walked in and was amazed how tiny it is. Reminded us of the old fashioned ice cream counters in New York way back when. No tables or booth seating, only at the counter. We were SO glad we decided to try the place anyway. Outstanding Pad Thai, spring rolls and a basil veggie stir fry. Amazing flavor and fresh ingredients. Seemed like a family run spot and reasonable prices too. We just wished we lived closer so we could eat here more often!

  • Allyson Y.

Rachawadee has the best Thai food. They have daily specials that include soup of the day, pad thai, rice and whatever the main dish is offered on the special all for a nice low price. I have never had anything I didn't like. My husband has had several of their curry dishes and I am in love with the pad thai and basil fried rice. They run hotter than most places, so be careful with your heat choice. I usually get a 4 out of 5 in most places, but at Rachawadee, I get a 2 star. I would probably handle a 3 fine, but the 2 has plenty of heat. I reccommend getting there either early or later than the lunch rush becuase it only has 8 barstools and a small fold out table, but it is so worth the wait for a seat.

  • Nicole H.

This place is a gem. It is tiny, just 10 stools, so you'll be lucky to get a seat, but they do a brisk take-out trade as well. The kitchen side of the counter is spotlessly clean and so efficient. Really great fresh ingredients, with each and every dish made to order, just to your liking. The ladies that run this place are totally awesome. Portions are huge, we always have enough to take some leftovers home. Everything we've tried has been amazing, but I especially love their green papaya salad, pad kee mao, and panang curry. This is the best Thai food around the Skagit Valley.

  • R R.

Amazing! One of the best Thai places I have ever been to. Tom yum and red curry was excellent. I asked for medium spice and it was spicy just how I like it! We waited about 10 mins before being seated. They only have 10 seats but trust me, it is worth the wait. Edit: Also wanted to include that each item is no more than $9-11 max. So everything is VERY reasonably priced and the portions were a lot. I didn't finish my order and took it with me to go! They also do "lunch specials" which are $8.95. You get pad thai, with a few other options. My friend also did not eat it all and took it to go.

  • Tyler J.

  • Samantha P.

  • Phuong N.

Is this place closed for good? Called a few times to place an order. No answer. Drove by & sign says not opening til noon. Not open at 12:15. Want more phad thai from here someday

Best Thai food I've had outside of Thailand. Great curry awesome flavor and the spice is actually accurate never before did I think 5 star was 5 star. Can't recommend this place enough

Super tasty Thai food here! Just be careful if you like spicy.... I love spicy, but have to scale down my stars here. Very spicy if you say 5 stars! The drawback is there is very limited seating. Not handicap accessible or kid friendly if either of those apply to you.

If I crave Thai I don't go anywhere else because there's no need. They may only have 8 seats and there may be a slight wait but you are in for some of the best Thai around.

Love this place! Fun to watch them cook. Watch out, 3 stars here is 5 stars anywhere else! Great food and service.

YES. This is heaven in a narrow and slightly cramped interior. Eat then judge. If they need that space to keep operating costs low let them. Worth it in every way. And free soup weekdays and non-holidays.

Enjoy!!!

  • Katie S.

Awesome, just awesome. This is just like Thailand when I was there. Even the place is like Thailand, cooking right in front of you and all. The only difference is this place has 4 walls, not all places is Thailand have that! Keep it up Mile and crew!!

Fantastic and fresh every time! Beware though - they are SPICY, and one star is plenty for me (where at most other places I'd do 2-3). Great little hidden gem in Mount Vernon!

Awesome food! Do not go by the outside look of the restaurant - it looks small, but the food inside is amazing! and the restaurant is very well kept. It is a different style of restaurant - they cook right in front of you and serve. This is the best Thai food I have tasted so far!!

    (5)

Excellent Thai food. When they ask how spicy on a scale of 1-4 say 1/2 because level 1 kicked my butt. I had to order a Thai iced tea to soothe the burn.

This is an absolute hidden gem of a restaurant. It ranks up there with my favorite Thai food. I just love the wonton soup, but everything is good because it's made fresh right in front you. It's quick too, so if you're traveling on I-5 this makes for a perfect pit stop.

This place was great! Was visiting the area for work and stopped in for lunch. Ordered the cashew nut stir-fry and we liked it so much, we went back for lunch again the next day. Tiny place (only seats around 10 at a bar), but great service and food. Definitely worth stopping in.

Seattle or Vancouver wish they had a place this unique or good. Careful with the heat scale. If you normally order 5, do a 3. Really! Tiny place with a handful of stools, no tables. And watch your food prepped and cooked. Take out is amazing. Great staff!

Love the atmosphere. Food is good for the price. Could use more local ingredients.
